- Cowboy Bebop cancelled by Netflix after just one season.
- Drive My Car was announced as Japan’s entry to the Academy Awards Best International category. The only Japanese film to win in the category is Departures (2008). A shortlist of 15 finalists is to be unveiled on December 21, from which five nominees will be announced on February 8.
